Installation

How to install CloudGuard on the PC

Step 1

To download CloudGuard, follow the link from the email that you receive.


Step 2

Click on the installation file that has downloaded to your device.

Step 3

Follow the installation prompts from your device.

Step 4

Sign in once the installer completes.

Step 5

Set up your online backup. Choose files and folders, decide upon a schedule, and choose whether to receive email reports or not.

Step 6

Follow these steps: Select the files and folders you want to backup. Click the next button to continue.

Step 7

Schedule when you would like the backups to occur. Once you have filled in all of the fields, click the finish button to complete the schedule set up.

Using the App

Navigation on the PC Desktop app

The My Account details on the right hand side is where you will find:

  • Used space
  • Available space
  • Last backup date
  • Link to web portal
  • Log out from account link

How to Backup
Go to the backup tab and click the ‘backup now’ button.

Step 2

How to Restore
To easily restore backed up files, click the restore button. You can either select Online Restore to restore from the cloud, or Local Restore to restore from a selected device. Specify dates and filters to search for a specific backup set.

Step 3

Click Next to continue. Select the specific files and or folders you need to restore.

Step 4

Choose either Default location or New Location to restore to.

Step 5

Click Finish.

How To Install CloudGuard on Mac

Step 1

To download CloudGuard, follow the link from the email that you receive.


Step 2

Open the "Onlinebackup.pkg" file to start the installation.

Step 3

Press continue to run the installer, and accept the terms of software licence agreement. You may be prompted to enter your credentials.

Using the App

Navigation on the MAC Desktop app

Step 1

Once the installation is complete, you can log in with your CloudGuard username and password and begin setting up your online back up.

Step 2

Backup
Once the scan is complete, you’ll begin backing up your files. After backing up, a summary of your system will be shown the next time you launch CloudGuard Online Backup.

Step 3

Restore
To easily restore backed up files, click the restore button. You can either select Online Restore to restore from the cloud, or Local Restore to restore from a selected device. Specify dates and filters to search for a specific backup set.

Settings

You can modify your settings by clicking on the "Settings" button on the home page. The "Scan Settings" tab can be used to specify filter exclusions based on file extensions. You can use the + or - sign to add or remove the filter content. You can also specify a file size range for minimum and maximum size.

To add a new filter click on the + sign as shown and enter the content type and then add the extensions. Extensions should be seperated using a comma.

Files

The "Files" tab can be used to view the files found that match the criteria for protection. You can deselect files by un-checking the files you do not need. You can also see the date the file was uploaded here as well as deselect any files/file types you don’t need backed up.

Reporting

The "Reporting" tab shows all the processes that happens in the application. You can enter your email address and the application will send you an email report after a backup completes.

Schedule

The "Schedule" tab can be used to modify your backup frequency.

Note: The online backup app must be active to allow the scheduled backups to run.

How To Install CloudGuard on iOS:

Step 1

To download CloudGuard, go to the App Store and search ‘CloudGuard Premium’ and install the application.


Step 2

Once the app has been installed, launch the app and sign in using your CloudGuard Online Backup account credentials.

How to use the iOS app:

Step 1

Content
The content tab allows you to access and share Documents, Pictures, Music and Videos.

Step 2

Protect
Protect will scan your iOS device and allow you to backup your contacts, photos and videos.

First, scan your device.

Step 3

Once CloudGuard has found your data you can backup.

Step 4

Select Protect to begin the backup process.

Step 5

Devices
The devices tab will show you the devices you have connected and registered with your CloudGuard Online backup account.

Step 6

You can drill down to restore and share individual files.

Step 7

Restore
Click on the file you wish to restore and press ok.

Step 8

Sharing a file Click on share file and fill in the email address and a message for the person you would like to send the file to.

How To Install CloudGuard on iOS:

Step 1

To download CloudGuard, go to the Google Play Store and search 'CloudGuard Premium' and install the application.


Step 2

Once installed, open the application from the 'installed application' list.

Using the App

Android app Navigation

Step 1

Once you are logged in you will be able to select from the 5 options shown below to backup your device or view and download files from other devices you’ve backed up.

  • My Cloud
  • Protect
  • My Downloads
  • My Favourites
  • Settings
Step 2

My Cloud
The My Cloud option will display all the devices that you’ve backed up with your CloudGuard account. You can select the device you need and browse through to find the files you would like to recover.

Step 3

Protect
The protect option will let you backup applications as well as files on your Android device.

Step 4

Once the backup is complete, you will be alerted in the notification section of your device.

Step 5

My Downloads
The My Downloads section will show you all the files that are being downloaded, files that have been downloaded, and files that failed to download.

Step 6

My Favourites
You can drill down to restore and share individual files.

Step 7

Settings
View and edit your CloudGuard App settings.
